VCH Board of Directors Appoint Interim President and CEO
VANCOUVER, B.C. – With the recent announcement that President and CEO Mary Ackenhusen will be departing Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) and starting her new role in the B.C. Ministry of Health in the coming weeks, the Board of Directors is pleased to appoint Vivian Eliopoulos as interim President and Chief Executive Officer. Over the next few weeks, Vivian will be working closely with Mary as part of the transition.
Vivian has a long history providing care and leadership at VCH. She is currently the Vice-President of Vancouver-Richmond Acute Services and provides leadership to a diverse portfolio of secondary, tertiary and quaternary hospital and ambulatory services for patients from across our region and the rest of the province. She is also the VCH Executive Sponsor supporting Lower Mainland Diagnostic Imaging, Laboratory Services and Pharmacy Services, which provide critical patient services to both VCH and Providence Health Care. Over the last 12 weeks, since the first COVID-19 outbreak at VCH, Vivian has also been the executive lead for the VCH COVID-19 emergency operations response.
"With our knowledge of her extensive experience and her deep commitment to exceptional patient, client and resident care across the broad continuum of our health system at VCH, the Board has full confidence that Vivian will provide excellent leadership to the organization and the Senior Executive Team while the Board undertakes the recruitment of a permanent President and CEO at VCH," says Dr. Penny Ballem, Board Chair.
The Board is very appreciative of Vivian's commitment to VCH and her willingness to take on this interim role.
