Vancouver Coastal Health confirms a case of COVID-19 at Haro Park Centre
Vancouver, B.C. – A resident of the Haro Park Centre was diagnosed with COVID-19. The resident is in isolation and receiving care. Haro Park Centre is a residence which provides independent housing, assisted living and residential care.
Outbreak control measures have been put in place at Haro Park Centre. Vancouver Coastal Health's Communicable Disease Control team is working with the staff at Haro Park Centre to identify anyone who may have been exposed and is taking steps to protect the health of all residents and staff.
Vancouver Coastal Health is also providing infection control support to Haro Park Centre. Residents are being closely monitored for symptoms and standard infection control measures are effective in protecting staff from infection.
Visitor access restrictions are also in place. Only family or caregivers making compassionate visits will be permitted to visit residents. These precautions prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses, and are standard approaches used in care facilities during seasonal Influenza outbreaks.
Adrian Dix, Minister of Health, and Dr. Bonnie Henry, Provincial Medical Health Officer, will be available to answer questions at their daily briefing at 3 p.m. today.
