Vancouver Coastal Health declares COVID-19 outbreak at Fraserview Retirement Community
RICHMOND, B.C. – Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) has declared a COVID-19 outbreak on the first floor north and second floor north of Fraserview Retirement Community after 10 residents tested positive for COVID-19.
Outbreak precautions have been implemented at Fraserview, and all group activities on the affected floors have been suspended. Non-essential visits to long term care facilities have paused by Public Health Order until January 18, 2022.
VCH immediately implemented strict infection prevention and control protocols to prevent further transmission of COVID-19. These include:
Enhanced monitoring of residents, staff and physicians for COVID symptoms
Enhanced cleaning and disinfection protocols including extra cleaning of high-touch surfaces
Cohorting of staff to the affected areas when possible
Closing the affected units to resident admissions and transfers
