If your primary care provider is not available (family doctor or nurse practitioner), or you do not have a family doctor, you can go to the Richmond UPCC for illnesses or injuries such as:<br></p><p></p><ul><li>Sprains and strains</li><li>Cuts, wounds or skin conditions</li><li>High fever</li><li>Infections, including chest, ear and urinary tract</li><li>Asthma</li><li>New or worsening pain</li><li>Dehydration/constipation</li><li>Less serious child illness and injury</li><li>Worsening chronic disease</li><li>Access to social work and mental health services </li></ul><p></p><div></div><div><span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:calibri, sans-serif;">Medical imaging services available on-site. Lab services available off-site.</span><br> </div><div><span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:calibri, sans-serif;"><br></span></div><div><p>The UPCC will work in conjunction with family physicians and care providers and will not replace these as the first point of contact for non-emergency care, nor will it replace the Richmond Hospital emergency department for life-threatening illnesses or injuries. Rather, the UPCC will be an additional service in the community, working in concert with all touch points for care to provide appropriate urgent services to patients, when and where they need it.<br></p></div><div><h2>UPCCs are NOT Emergency Departments</h2><p>For life-threatening illnesses or injuries, call 9-1-1 or go the emergency department to be assessed and treated immediately.</p><p>For health concerns, call your family doctor or health-care provider first.
