Interview, if successful. If you’re shortlisted for an interview, you’ll receive a phone call or email invitation. Timelines between applying and hearing from us can vary, so please check your email inbox and junk mail folder to ensure you don’t miss any updates. You may also be invited for skill-testing if applicable.

- Job offer, if successful. If you are a successful candidate for a role at Vancouver Coastal Health, the Hiring Manager will send you a job offer. You will receive a notification through the VCH Careers Portal - login to review and sign your offer letter.

- Search jobs: Search for jobs on the internal job board. Please review posting information before applying. Instructions on how to search for jobs.

Postings advertised for external can be found on our external job search page. - Log in: Before you apply to your desired job, log into the VCH Employee CareerHub. Need help? Get login instructions.
- Make sure your profile is up to date: After you login to CareerHub, you will be able to update your profile. Your information will be saved for any future jobs you apply to. Instructions on how to update your profile.
- Apply: Once you have updated your profile and selected a job posting, you can apply for the job directly in CareerHub. Instructions on how to apply for jobs.
Job posting dates and duration
Unionized jobs are posted in accordance with their collective agreements. Please review the internal posting information below, so that you know when your collective agreement posts new jobs and for how long they will remain active on the internal job posting board.

Health sciences placement
Health Sciences Placement involves nursing, allied health, rehabilitation sciences, social work, and other non-medical clinical disciplines for post-secondary students whose practicum is required for graduation and who are insured by their school for liability and personal injury.

Medical student placement
Medical student placements are coordinated through the UBC Faculty of Medicine as VCH is unable to accept direct requests.

Job shadow/career observation
At Vancouver Coastal Health, we do not offer shadowing or practicum placements independently, including observation experiences required for school programs. Shadowing opportunities are available only to qualified health-care professionals seeking professional development or employment with VCH.
Participants must provide proof of up-to-date immunizations, a current criminal record check, and may be required to show evidence of adequate insurance. Completion of the VCH Privacy and Confidentiality Undertaking for Student Placement is also mandatory.

Independent supervised practice expertise
If you need a practicum placement with Vancouver Coastal Health to renew your Nursing license and are not currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution, please contact us at Placements@vch.ca. Please note that all standard prerequisites must be completed in accordance with our guidelines before beginning a placement.

VCH Student Practice processes requests for unpaid health sciences-related student placements arranged through HSPnet. If you’re seeking a paid co-op placement reimbursed by either the health authority or your institution, please contact your co-op coordinator for guidance on how to apply.

VCH Student Practice only processes requests for unpaid health sciences-related student placements arranged through HSPnet.
- Employed Student Nurses: If you are a nursing student interested in paid work opportunities, please refer to the Employed Student Nurse (ESN) Program page.
