Compliments & complaints

There are several ways to share a compliment or complaint about the health services you or a loved one received.

We recognize that navigating through the maze of facilities and health care providers can sometimes be overwhelming, especially if you are facing health challenges. Quality care is best achieved when you become partners in care with us, your health care providers.

The first step in submitting a compliment or complaint

Speak to the person who provided the service or to the manager of the area. It is best to share a compliment, or address and resolve complaints, at the time and place they occur.

What if my complaint is not resolved?

Contact the Patient Care Quality Office that handles complaints about all services offered by Vancouver Coastal Health.

For assisted living services

The Office of the Assisted Living Registrar investigates complaints, administers the Health and Safety Standards and responds to questions from the public, service providers and other stakeholders.

Submit compliments about staff

Send compliments to their manager or fill out our feedback form.

Submit complaints about staff

If you believe someone working for Vancouver Coastal Health has acted in bad faith, or committed wrongdoing, we want to know about it. There are three options to submit a complaint about our staff:
  1. Speak directly to their supervisor. Supervisors are often the best place to start when addressing concerns about staff.
  2. Contact the Patient Care Quality Office if your complaint is specific to the services you received.
  3. Use the Whistleblower Hotline to confidentially report a known or suspected case of wrongdoing by staff.
