Celebrating our amazing staff, medical staff and volunteers at the 2023 oneVCH Awards
The oneVCH Awards celebrate our exceptional Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) staff, medical staff, volunteers and teams that go above and beyond to make a meaningful impact every day. The awards celebrate outstanding achievements and those who inspire others to excel and make VCH a great place to work.
On October 12, 2023 over 200 staff, leaders and guests came together for the oneVCH Awards, a celebratory and emotional event where a record number of award recipients were acknowledged – 357 people amongst 10 teams and 22 individuals – all of whom inspire us with their dedication, exceptional care and teamwork.
Along with touching awards recipient videos, Elders Roberta Price and Xwechtaal Dennis Joseph led a meaningful blanketing ceremony to lift up and honour the Indigenous Cultural Safety: Nəca̓mat (One heart. One mind – Indigenous allyship) award of excellence recipient, Sierra Roberts, on her journey with her work as project manager for Indigenous Palliative Projects.
“There was love in the room," says Vivian Eliopoulos, President and CEO, who shared her appreciation and thanks to all award recipients, event attendees, participants and event organizers. “There was an incredible sense of pride, of compassion, and of caring for each other. A recognition of the impact that leaders and staff have on each other and have on the care that we deliver across our organization. As a leader at VCH, I am incredibly and profoundly grateful."
