This communicable disease control section has information and resources to help you with the health promotion side of patient care, with a focus on vaccine-preventable illnesses.

Infection control resources

Influenza is a significant cause of death in Canada, especially among the elderly and frail. In British Columbia, more than 1,400 people die each year from influenza and pneumonia combined.  Visit our Residential care infection control pages for information about our influenza prevention and control program. Immunization resources

We offer communicable disease resoureces for both phyicians and pharmacists. 

Disease surveillance reports

This section currently includes research and reports on Disease surveillance, provided by our regional Public Health disease surveillance team. The team works to improve public health through disease surveillance, epidemiological investigation, research and education.
