How do I access residential care?

Hair salon, activities provided and afternoon entertainment (as per activity calendar) gardening available for Residents’ who wish to participate.
Language, culture, religious affiliations
English speaking. All denominations are welcome.
Philosophy of care
The care offered at West Vancouver Care Centre is based on humanitarian ideals and we are committed to providing each Resident with every opportunity to restore and maintain his or her physical, mental, social, and spiritual well being.
Type of accommodation
79 beds (2 private pay beds) 24 hour Complex Care provided by licensed RN’s and RCA’s. 4-bed wardrooms, semi private rooms, small and large private rooms are available. Residents are first admitted into a 4-bed ward. There is an internal wait list for Residents that wish to move into a semi private or private room. There is no special care unit available.
Residents pay 80% of their after tax income which covers the cost of food and accommodation. Minimum and maximum rates apply. There may be other costs not included in the resident contribution. For more information on costs, please refer to the Information on Residential Care guide.
Special recreation opportunities
Activities are provided 5 days a week (Mon-Fri). Saturday there is a half-day of activities. Activities include musical therapy, exercises, arts and craft classes, bingo, news and views, gardening, entertainment, sing a longs, church service and private mass, walking program and monthly Birthday celebrations.
The best way to access the facility is by car or taxi. The facility is on a bus route (check the West Vancouver blue bus schedule).
Motorized scooter policy
No motorized scooters allowed, as per policy.
We are a pet friendly facility. Families are welcome to bring their pets in for a visit. Supervisory staff member brings in their dogs for their shift to visit with the Residents.
We are not a lock down facility. We do not have keypad access to gain entry. We do have a door alarm system we use on evenings and nights. Facility does not admit Residents’ that are an elopement risk.
There is a West Van blue bus that stops right out front of the facility. The Handy Dart and Senior Centre bus will pick up/drop off residents at the facility (for registered Residents’).
Physiotherapy, podiatry, dental hygiene is available and to be paid by the family. A licensed Dietician who also reviews all Resident diets reviews the menu.
