On July 28, a public exposure notification was issued by VCH Public Health about a possible exposure to hepatitis A for people who dined at Araxi Restaurant + Oyster Bar (110 - 4222 Village Square, Whistler) or at Il Caminetto (4242 Village Stroll, Whistler) in July 2022.  Find more information about hepatitis A symptoms, causes, tests, treatments and prevention.

If given within two weeks of exposure, immunization with one dose of hepatitis A vaccine can help to prevent infection. Therefore, individuals who dined at either restaurant between July 14 and July 20, inclusive, may receive a free dose of hepatitis A vaccine at any of the locations listed below. For those who may have been exposed prior to July 14, vaccine will not provide a benefit; they should self-monitor for symptoms and seek immediate care if they experience any.

• Eligible people who reside in the Fraser Health (FH) region can find information about hepatitis A vaccine opportunities on the Fraser Health site. 
  
• People who are outside the VCH or FH regions should contact their local Public Health unit. 
• Those who have previously been infected with hepatitis A or those who received two doses of hepatitis A vaccine prior to the exposure event are considered protected.
