I have forgotten the password or log-in information for my VCH Careers portal – how can I re-set this?
VCH uses the iCIMS software system for the application portion of our online process.
If you have previously created a profile, please log back in here: https://careers-vch.icims.com/jobs/login.
If you have forgotten your Login Name or Password, the following information will assist you:
- Click on “Login”
- Click on “Forgot your password?” or “Forgot Username”
If you are unable to gain access to your account using the above directions, please email recruitment.inquiries@vch.ca for assistance.

Does VCH hire international applicants?
We welcome internationally trained and out-of-province health care professionals to apply and work with Vancouver Coastal Health. To start work in British Columbia, Canada, as a non-Canadian citizen or non-Canadian permanent resident, you need a valid work permit. If you are still awaiting outcomes for your work permit or registration process, we encourage you to still apply for jobs with Vancouver Coastal Health. Please make a note in your resume about your work eligibility.

When do new postings go up on the VCH Careers site?
New postings go up on the external careers website everyday as they are available. We recommend that you review our job postings often for new opportunities of interest.
To sign up for job alerts, as a new applicant you can create an applicant profile on the VCH Careers website, or if you are a returning applicant, select ‘Log Back In’ when exploring the VCH Careers website. Once logged in, you will notice your name at the top.
Select ‘Dashboard’. The Employee Candidate Dashboard contains your profile, job recommendations, current job opportunities, and the opportunity to manage email subscriptions based on preferences.
Click on “Manage Email Subscriptions” to select and receive alerts for a specific job category.

What are closing dates for job postings on the VCH Careers site?
All external job postings remain up until filled. If the job posting is still up on our website, please feel welcome to submit your application.
For internal job postings (current VCH staff only), unless otherwise noted on the posting, internal job postings close at 8:00 AM Pacific Time on the listed Closing Date. If the closing date has passed but the posting is up on the internal job posting site, interested internal applicants are welcome to submit a late internal application.

Can employees of other health authorities apply as internal applicants?
In order to apply to jobs on the internal careers website, you must be an active VCH employee.
However, all postings on our external careers site are open for applications. We encourage you to review our currently posted external vacancies and apply to specific job postings that match your skills and experience.

If the posting you are searching for does not appear on the VCH Careers site, we have now completed our search and have filled this position.

Should I answer all job application questions if the answers are in my cover letter or resume?
Please answer all questions posed during the application process, as it will help us best understand how your application meets the requirements for the position.

I would like to contact the Hiring Manager of a specific posting – are you able to share their contact information or name?
We do not give out contact information for our manager as this may interrupt patient care.
We encourage you to continue to visit this website at www.vch.ca/careers to review our vacancies and apply to specific job postings that match your skills and experience.
As we receive numerous applications, only candidates that qualifications most closely fit the needs of the position will be contacted. If the job posting is still up on our website, it is still under review.

Is a cover letter required as part of my application?
Unless otherwise indicated by the posting, a cover letter is not required to apply for job postings. However, we welcome submission of cover letters alongside your resume as they can provide additional information about your application that can be helpful for the hiring team.
Please note there can only be one primary resume and one primary cover letter on your profile so it is recommended to use a generic Resume and Cover letter when setting up your VCH Profile.
If you wish to upload numerous cover letters or documents to support your application, you can use the “additional documents” field in your Careers Profile to upload additional documents (please ensure the file names are descriptively labeled (e.g., “Cover Letter for Clerical Postings.”)

How do I upload more than one cover letter or resume?
There can only be one primary resume and one primary cover letter on your profile so it is recommended to use a generic Resume and Cover letter when setting up your VCH Profile.
Within our VCH Careers Portal, due to software limitations, any changes to your cover letter and resume will automatically override the existing one.
If you wish to upload numerous cover letters or documents to support your application, you can use the “additional documents” field in your Careers Profile to upload additional documents (please ensure the file names are descriptively labeled (e.g., “Cover Letter for Clerical Postings.”)
When you apply, you will be asked a screening question about your qualifications. Please include in your response that you have included a cover letter for your application in your profile’s additional documents.

If I need to pause completion of my application and return to complete it later, am I able to do so?
Yes – while filling in your application, you can click “Finish Later” to save your application prior to submitting it. Once ready to return to completing your application, sign into your VCH Careers online profile.
In your dashboard, under the “Submitted Applications” section, you will see the list of jobs you have applied for. Under the “Actions” column, you'll see a Continue Application button next to all jobs in which you have an incomplete application. Click “Continue Application” to continue completing your application.

My information has changed - how do I update my VCH Careers profile?
To update your profile, including your contact information, resume and cover letters, and/or upload additional documents please follow these instructions:
Visit our ICIMS careers system and navigate to the login button for returning candidates need to enter your Login and Password.
Click the “Update profile” to interactively create/edit your profile, including:
- Replace your resume (Max Size 5MB) **please note the size limitation.
- Replace your primary Cover Letter
- Upload or delete additional documents
- Change your login information (including password)
- Enter the Additional Information, Contact Information and complete the required Candidate Questions – please ensure you answer each question before submitting.
- Change or update contact information
- Update your most recent job title/employer
- Update information about legal entitlement to work in Canada (ie. change in work permit status, etc)
Once all updates are complete, click the blue “Update Profile” button at the bottom of the page. Once successfully updated, you will receive a confirmation notification on the next page.

Can I submit a paper application in person?
All job postings must be applied for using the VCH Careers system online, and in-person paper applications are not accepted at this time. However, should you require accessibility accommodations to submit your application, please contact recruitment.inquiries@vch.ca

Does VCH have remote-work positions? How do I know if the position allows for hybrid or remote work arrangements?
While there are some roles that may be eligible for workplace flexibility arrangements (which may include remote or hybrid work arrangements), there are some roles and work units that cannot achieve required deliverables and/or meet desired outcomes with workplace flexibility. Workplace flexibility is subject to operational approval by the Manager of the role.
If you are shortlisted for an interview and are interested in exploring opportunities for remote or hybrid working arrangements, please discuss with the Hiring Manager during the interview.

How do I know which job postings I have applied to?
To view your application history, sign into your VCH Careers online profile. In your dashboard, under the “Submitted Applications” section, you will see the list of jobs you have applied for.
From here, you can also finishing completing any incomplete applications or withdraw from any postings you are no longer interested in.

I have applied many times and have not heard back. How come?
Thank you for your interest in Vancouver Coastal Health. We appreciate your patience. If you are shortlisted for an interview, a member of our team will contact you.
Due to the high volume of applications we receive, only candidates whose background and experience most closely fit the needs of the position will be contacted.
