Rehabilitation Assistant jobs
Rehabilitation assistants are members of the interdisciplinary health care team and work closely with occupational therapists (OTs), physiotherapists (PTs), recreational therapists, and speech language pathologists (SLPs).
Rehabilitation Assistants are valued members of the allied health teams and work to promote, restore, maintain, and/or enhance a client’s level of functioning in the areas of mobility, self-care, productivity, leisure, and day-to-day activities. Clients come from all demographics and range from newborns to the elderly.
Some of the main duties of a Rehabilitation Assistant are to:
- implement lower-risk interventions related to the clinical aspects of OT/PT care plans,
- adapt devices and facilitate programs to enable patients/clients/residents to maximize their potential for independence,
- provide functional direction to patient/client/residents and family; help manage equipment safety and inventory and
- assist with practicing daily living skills.
