New graduate nurse practitioner support

VCH provides a comprehensive and supportive environment for new graduate NPs. Our tailored orientation program is complemented by an Advanced Education Program that offers 200 hours of specialized clinical education and one-on-one mentorship during the first six months. This program is designed to ease your transition into independent NP practice by combining interactive lectures with hands-on workshops. Key clinical skills covered include splinting, suturing, and procedural skills.

These opportunities are available in acute care, emergency departments, and urgent and primary care centres, ensuring new NPs gain practical experience in high-demand clinical settings.

Licensure in BC

Nurse practitioners must be registered with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) to practice in BC. VCH will reimburse licensing fees.
