Harm reduction: Toward the Heart
The HOpe Centre Mental Health Inpatient Unit (also known as HOpe 4) provides acute inpatient assessment and treatment services. Services are multi-disciplinary with the goal of stabilizing the acute illness and linking the patient to community mental health and substance use services for follow-up and continued treatment and recovery.
Acute Inpatient Services provides:
- Comprehensive assessment including psychiatric, physical, psychosocial, occupational, spiritual and nursing information
- Personalized care plans designed by the treatment team in collaboration with the individual and/or the family as appropriate
- Treatment based on the individual’s care plan
- Discharge planning to enable the individual greatest success
A therapeutic activity program is available and activities are scheduled each morning. All patients are encouraged to participate as they are able.

Check eligibility
- Adults aged 19 and over who require psychiatric hospitalization in an acute care, mental health setting.
- The patient population may include people experiencing mental illness, concurrent disorders, eating disorders, head injuries, dementia and forensic issues.
Hours of operation
- Monday: 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Tuesday: 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Wednesday: 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Thursday: 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Friday: 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Saturday: 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Sunday: 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Holidays 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
