Sexual Health Rehabilitation Service at Blusson Spinal Cord Centre

The Sexual Health Rehabilitation Service at Blusson Spinal Cord Centre is a team of rehabilitation nurses who specialize in sexual health and disability. Working alongside a doctor and other community resources, we offer education and support to improve sexual wellness in a confidential setting.

The Sexual Health Rehabilitation Service at Blusson Spinal Cord Centre consists of two clinics that have joined to make for a more inclusive experience. These clinics are:

  • The Vancouver Sperm Retrieval Clinic
  • The Sexual Health Rehab Clinic

As a client, you can access one or both parts of this clinic.

How to access

  • Check eligibility

    We see clients with neurological impairments (a group of disorders that affect the central nervous system, including the brain and spinal cord) who are not currently accessing services at G.F. Strong Rehabilitation Centre.

  • Get a referral

    Referrals must be made by a Physician or Nurse Practitioner. Have your Physician or Nurse Practitioner complete the Sexual Health Rehabilitation Service Outpatient Referral Form and fax it to (778) 504-9739.

The Sexual Health Rehabilitation Service is located on the 2nd floor of the Blusson Spinal Cord Centre. 

Parking is available in the VGH Courtyard 24/7 for people with disabilities only.

  • What can I expect at an appointment?

    Depending on the nature of your concern, nurses trained in this area (Sexual Health Clinicians) will manage your care in the following ways:

    1. Provide education, information & care related to your specific sexual health concerns.
    2. Arrange blood tests and/or sperm tests if indicated.
    3. Arrange appointments for you to see other health-care providers.

  • Are there any costs to access this service?

    Services provided by the Sexual Health Rehabilitation Service are currently covered under the provincial health plan; however, some procedures, lab costs and medications may not be covered. Your Nurse Clinician will discuss these costs as they relate to you.
