Features
Little Mountain Place opened in 1987 and has 116 single rooms, including 26 in a special care unit. This care home is funded and operated by Vancouver Coastal Health.
Room and building: Total of 116 single rooms. All rooms have an ensuite bathroom (sink and toilet). Each room has a bed, night table, dresser and wardrobe closet. All rooms are private, with an ensuite bathroom and a nurse-call system. A wander alert system also protects residents.
There is a kitchen area on each floor and a fully equipped resident’s kitchen on the main floor. A hairdresser, podiatrist and optometrist can provide on-site services, with some limitations.
Special recreation opportunities: A wide range of programs is provided, including Chinese luncheons, Newsweek discussions, carpet bowling, bingo, video nights, bus trips/outings, and pub days. Music, art, and horticultural therapists also provide specialized programs, and chaplaincy services are available.
Accessibility: Due to space constraints, we are unable to accommodate motorized scooters at Little Mountain Place.
Smoking policy: No smoking in residents’ rooms or anywhere in the building. Visitors and family members are not allowed to smoke on the property. Smoking restrictions are strictly enforced.
Safety and security: Smoke detectors are installed in all rooms and elevators. Security cameras are located in designated areas throughout the building and in the underground parking. A wander guard system is in place for residents who cannot leave the building without supervision. A security system monitors the care home in the evening, and visitors must ring the doorbell to enter the care home once the security system has been activated.
Neighbourhood and community: Public bus transportation is half a block away. Various restaurants, shopping and banks are within a one-and-a-half kilometre radius. We are close to Queen Elizabeth Park, the Riley Park Community Centre, and Little Mountain Neighbourhood House.
