Substance use education opportunities for care providers across the VCH region

The Vancouver Coastal Health Regional Addiction Program has reached maximum capacity for providing funding for staff time attending POATSP and ACTOC trainings.

We encourage learners to explore these training options that are free and accessible to all via the BC Centre on Substance Use website:

POATSP Education and Training Pathway

The BC Centre on Substance Use’s (BCCSU) comprehensive education and training program provides the tools for prescribing oral opioid agonist treatment (OAT) (buprenorphine/naloxone, extended-release buprenorphine, methadone, and slow-release oral morphine) and injectable opioid agonist treatment (hydromorphone and diacetylmorphine).

Addiction Care and Treatment Online Certificate

The Addiction Care and Treatment Online Certificate is a free online certificate course targeted at health care professionals interested in learning more about providing care to patients with various substance use disorders, including alcohol, tobacco, stimulants, cannabis, and opioids. This program was supported by an investment by the Province of British Columbia and the Ministry of Health.
