Pre-admission forms
Please fill out the following forms when you are 32 weeks pregnant, prior to admission, and email them to pa-coastal@vch.ca. If you would like to drop them off in person, you can drop them into the black box that hangs on the wall near the registration desk in the main rotunda of Lions Gate Hospital.
Checking in
Main admitting in the hospital lobby is open from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please check in here. If you arrive outside of those hours, go straight to labour and delivery. After 8 p.m. the main doors will be locked. Please check-in at the admitting desk in the Emergency department entrance off St. Georges Street.
How to get to the third-floor labour and delivery unit
Come through the main entrance, check in with admitting and then walk along the main corridor, past the gift shop to the elevators. Turn left out of the elevator (towards the wall with the stars). When at the star wall turn right and go through the door and down the corridor to the desk in the labour & delivery unit.
Labour and birthing rooms
All labour rooms are private and very similar. There is a cupboard for your belongings, the chair opens out as a bed for partners to use (there is a similar one in your post-partum room) you can dim the lights, play music, and open the windows. Take an impression of this room now and imagine yourself using this space when you are in labour. The bed is completely adjustable, it adjusts to a perfect height to lean on when sitting on a ball or it rises up to waist height to rest on while standing and swaying. The bed also converts into a chair shape.
