Choice in Support for Independent Living (CSIL) is an alternative method for delivering home support for clients who can direct their care. CSIL is an individualized funding approach that allows people greater flexibility to purchase and manage their own home support and attendant services.

CSIL is a care option that provides more flexibility than traditional home support and also puts greater responsibility on you since you become the employer and manager of your home support services. As a CSIL employer, you receive money from VCH to hire, manage, and pay your own home support staff.

What to expect

Clients receive funds directly for the purchase of home support services. They assume full responsibility for the management, co-ordination and financial accountability of their services, including recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling and supervising home support workers.
