The Seating Service support clinicians in the public health system regarding their clients' complex seating and mobility issues.
Seating and mobility issues may include: pressure injuries, significant postural deformity, pain and spasticity or exploration of alternate drive controls.
What to expect
Consultation is provided to a client's primary therapist – usually an Occupational Therapist.
In-person and virtual consults are offered depending on the region. The consultation typically includes a joint initial assessment to determine the complexity of the client's needs and formulate a seating and mobility intervention plan to optimize postural supports and functional performance.
The intervention plan may include the following:
- equipment trials and recommendations;
- custom seating;
- mobility training; and
- client/caregiver education.
