Services we provide

When most people think about health care, the first thing they think about are hospitals. While many of our services are offered in the 13 hospitals we operate, we offer a range of services including:

  • Primary care

  • Community-based residential and home health care

  • Mental health and substance use services

  • Public health

  • Hospital care

  • Research

The services and facilities of VCH are located within the traditional homelands of the 14 First Nation communities of Heiltsuk, Kitasoo-Xai'xai, Lilwat, Musqueam, N'Quatqua, Nuxalk, Samahquam, Sechelt, Skatin, Squamish, Tla'amin, Tsleil-Waututh, Wuikinuxv and Xa'xtsa.

Our people

To deliver our services, we have approximately:

  • Almost 14,000 full-time and part time staff, including 5,500 nurses and 2,700 physicians in our hospitals and community health centres

  • 3,000 active volunteers

  • More than 900 principal investigators conduct clinical and discovery research at VCH Research Institute
