What to expect
Family/friend caregiving is a complex role with a unique set of responsibilities. These responsibilities can change over time as the care needs of the person change.
Caregiver support is a service to give you a break from the emotional and physical demands of caring for a friend or relative. Caregiving, even when given with love, can be stressful. We offer respite care, a short period of rest and relief, so you can continue to provide good care. It is available at home or outside of the home through short-term stays in a care facility or hospice.
A caregiver is a person who provides unpaid support and care to an adult friend or family member who is:
- elderly,
- has an ongoing illness or disability, or
- is approaching the end of their life.
