Steps Services provides a wide range of services for pain and for psychosocial rehabilitation and counselling.
Pain services
We can support you to:
- Identify contributors to your pain
- Learn techniques to reduce pain
- Move safely with pain
- Learn ways to cut back on pain medications or other substances used for pain relief
- Build stamina to support your everyday activities
- Connect with other people experiencing pain
- Reduce myfoascial pain and restriction with dry needling called myoActivation (for Primary Care clients only)
Psychosocial rehab and counselling
The Psychosocial rehab (PSR) and Counselling Team offer individual and group services to improve mental, emotional, physical, social and spiritual wellness.
We can support you to:
- Learn new skills and tools to deal with life stressors and mental health.
- Seek and obtain employment.
- Pursue education goals.
- Access your community and make new connections.
- Find meaning and purpose in life.
- Learn skills to do everyday activities.
- Explore activities you enjoy.
- Make changes to substance use or other behaviours.
- Explore and apply for treatment.

Who can be referred
Steps Services are available to clients of the following:
- Heatley Primary Care Clinic
- Pender Primary Care Clinic
- Downtown Community Health Centre Primary Care Clinic
- Raven Song Primary Care Clinic
- Three Bridges Primary Care Clinic
- Sheway
- Strathcona Mental Health
Pain services: A client who has had pain for more than three months, who would like to try non-pharmacological management.
Psychosocial rehabilitation: A client who wants to learn skills to manage their mental health, and who is interested in pursuing leisure, education or work.
Counselling: A client who wants to improve mental and emotional wellness and/or who has an identified treatment issue (i.e. mental health concern, substance use, grief and loss, etc.).
