A Place to Share, Belong, and Heal. Substance use recovery services based in Vancouver for adults aged 19 and older who use substances and are interested in recovery. The support services are free and offered in both Vancouver-based clinics and online.

What to expect

The Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) recovery services are free and offered at in-person clinics and online. Services include group sessions and one-to-one support led by recovery navigators and peers with lived and living experiences of substance use and recovery. Sessions include:

  • health and wellness activities,
  • social events and peer support,
  • guidance & referrals to healthcare, harm reduction and recovery services.

All sessions are welcoming and inclusive spaces for Indigenous people and people who identify as 2SLGBTQIA+. Staff are trained in Indigenous cultural safety and care provided is trauma-informed.

How to access

Referral

No physician referral or referral process is required. Clients who wish to attend can register. Some sessions welcome drop-ins.

Eligibility

Sessions are open to people who:

  • are aged 19 years and older,
  • are living in Vancouver,
  • have lived or living experience of substance use and who,
  • self-identify as being in recovery or those interested in exploring recovery pathways with support from peers, VCH staff and other community members.

Clients who wish to attend can register. Some sessions welcome drop-ins; please find session details below.

Building Back Coffee & Chat (drop-in)

This group is an ongoing in-person social drop-in group led by peers and staff. This session is an opportunity to enjoy refreshments, join in social and recreational activities, and spend time with peers and others in the community.

All-Pathways Meetings (drop-in)

These meetings are a 12-step alternative mutual support group that is led by peers and staff. It is a discussion-based group on various recovery and wellness topics. Topic examples include: dealing with change, finding purpose, healthy relationships, and coping with triggers and cravings, among others. We also host a 2SLGBTQ+ specific All-Pathways meeting.

Navigating Recovery (registration required)

This group is an open psycho-educational group led by staff and peers for all interested in learning more about navigating recovery & the various pathways available. There are eight core sessions that expand on various topics as well as a free participant workbook to help personalize the material for your individual journey. Folks are welcome to attend this group as many times as they’d like.

Yoga (drop-in)

Start your week with a trauma-informed yoga class inclusive of all experience levels. We have mats! Just bring yourself and some comfy clothes.

Expressive Arts Class (drop-in)

Find new ways to express ourselves through art: awaken creativity, encourage authenticity, foster self-empowerment, and recognize alternative ideas and possibilities useful in problem-solving. No experience or artistic skill is necessary!

One-to-One Recovery Navigator Support (registration required)

We offer the opportunity to meet individually with one of our Recovery Navigators to discuss individual wellness and recovery goals and/or to connect you with services in your community.
