Here are a few suggestions for where to find further support and resources in your community. This list is not an endorsement of organizations nor is it a complete list of all VCH community partners.

Emotional support for yourself

I need emotional support for myself – where can I go?

Family Support and Education Group at the HOpe Centre

For families on the North Shore who need support and education. This is a drop-in group that is led by both a nurse and a family therapist.   Groups are every second Thursday evening, 5:30 - 7 p.m.  You can contact Family Therapist Saman Khan at (604) 984-5000 extension 5150 for any updates, or , or email colleen.griffin@vch.ca. Group takes place at the HOpe Centre, Telfur Burke. 

HOpe 4 Families Support Group

This is a support and information meeting for families with a loved one on the unit, and meets every second Thursday from 4 p.m. – 5 p.m. at the HOpe Centre.  This is an opportunity to talk with a member of the Family Advisory Committee. Meet at the reception desk on the main floor of the Hope Centre.  Ask your loved one’s assigned social worker more about this.  Call (604) 984-5000 extension 5150 for further information. An accredited not-for-profit, community-based agency that offers affordable and sometimes subsidized education, support and counselling services. Call (604) 988-5281 or visit the Family Services North Shore website

Where can I find supportive reading materials related to my journey?

  • Kelty Dennehy Resource Centre - Located on the main floor of the HOpe Centre offers resources on mental health issues for patients and families.
