Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is one of five regional health authorities in British Columbia working in partnership with the Ministry of Health to provide high quality, health care services and supports to 1.25 million people within our region.
Guided by our core values of we care for everyone, we are always learning and we strive for better results, our health authority delivers community and acute care services to more than 1.25 million people—25 per cent of the province’s population—including First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples living in the region.
We are proud to care for residents living in the communities of Richmond, Vancouver, North Shore, Sea-to-Sky Corridor, Sunshine Coast, Powell River, Bella Bella and Bella Coola located within the traditional territories of the Heiltsuk, Kitasoo-Xai’xais, Lil’wat, Musqueam, N’Quatqua, Nuxalk, Samahquam, shíshálh, Skatin, Squamish, Tla’amin, Tsleil-Waututh, Wuikinuxv, and Xa’xtsa.
VCH also provides specialized, complex care and services for people throughout B.C. and serves as the province’s hub for health-care education and research. VCH collaborates with B.C. health authorities to ensure all patients receive the care they need, no matter where they’re located, including primary care for people who work in or visit our region and specialized care for patients living throughout our province.

Let's work together
Our purpose is to bring staff and medical staff together as one collective team to deliver an exceptional care experience for all. To deliver our services, we have more than 29,000 staff and medical staff, 3,000 active volunteers and more than 900 principal investigators conduct clinical and discovery research at VCH Research Institute.
To deliver exceptional care, VCH works in collaboration with the Ministry of Health University of British Columbia Providence Health Care Divisions of Family Practice, Coastal Regional Hospital District Boards and other B.C. health authorities, as well as organizational partners from the public, private and not-for-profit sectors.
