If your neurologist ordered an MRI, they will discuss the results with you at your next UBC MS Clinic visit. If there is anything abnormal on your MRI, the MS clinic staff will contact you to discuss next steps.

If your MRI was done at a facility outside of Vancouver Coastal Health, please contact the hospital where the MRI was done and have the images sent to our clinic to be viewed by your neurologist.

Please do not contact our nursing staff to ask about your lab or MRI results. We cannot answer your questions unless your neurologist has asked us to call you.

The MS Clinic at CBH can only respond to people who are registered patients in the clinic.

If you are a client, contact the MS Clinic nursing relapse line at 604-822-0753 if you think you are having a relapse. Voice messages are prioritized, and your call will be returned as soon as possible.

Generally, If you have a fever or infection, go to your family doctor, an urgent care clinic, or the an Emergency Department (ED) if your illness is severe. They can evaluate for infection or systemic illness which may be causing a pseudo-relapse [link to relapse on symptoms page].

If you have severe symptoms such as blindness, inability to walk, severe weakness, or if you cannot reach your doctor and are concerned about ongoing worsening, go to the Emergency Department.

If you think you are having a relapse, contact the MS Clinic Nursing Team at 604-822-0753 and leave a message. Our nurse team checks this answering machine hourly and a nurse will triage and respond to calls as soon as possible.

After you call

After you call the relapse line, the nurse will talk to your neurologist or another neurologist who is on call. We may ask you to come in to see either your neurologist, a fellow, or another doctor in the relapse clinic

If you have questions about your medications, please call the MS Clinic Nursing Line at 604-822-0753. We are unable to answer questions about your symptoms or medicines by email.

If you have a prescription that was not written by your neurologist, be sure to follow up with your prescribing doctor.

Get your pharmacy to fax a renewal request to us at 604-297-9685 at least 4 weeks before you are due to run out.

If you are quickly running out of your medication, have your pharmacy dispense and emergency supply while you await your prescription renewal.

You can also contact your patient support program if this is related to the disease modifying therapies.

Depending on the medicines you take, you may need to:

  • Have bloodwork done before your neurologist can renew your prescription.
  • Contact the patient support program responsible for your treatment if you require assistance.

To prevent these delays, we recommend that you subscribe to our Medication Access Program (MAP) by contacting the team at 604-210-2268 or VCHneurology@sentrex.com
